James Edge

Managing Partner

Introduction:

James works with founders and shareholders of independent businesses who are considering a sale, partial exit, or strategic investment. He helps clients run confidential, competitive processes that maximise value and secure the right outcome — financially and personally.

James was part of the team that founded Convex in 2010, built on the belief that entrepreneurs deserve an advisor who is exclusively sell-side, unconflicted, and relentlessly focused on delivering the best deal.

As Managing Partner, James leads the origination and analyst teams, building relationships with UK and international acquirers and investors and bringing the right buyers to the table for each client. He has originated over £2bn of market-leading transactions across business services, consumer, food & beverage, software & technology, and industrials.

Away from deal-making, James is a highly competitive sportsman — a trait he brings to negotiations — and is kept busy trying to keep up with his two-year-old daughter.

How James helps founders:

•Creates competitive tension through targeted, global buyer outreach

•Protects confidentiality and manages the process end-to-end to reduce disruption

•Sharpens the equity story so buyers understand the value — and pay for it

•Negotiates hard on value and terms, keeping founders’ priorities front and centre

“We built Convex to exclusively support founders and entrepreneurs. Everything we do is designed to protect our clients, maximise outcomes, and deliver a process they can trust — grounded in vision, bravery, honesty, and respect. I’m proud to work with some of the most disruptive and innovative entrepreneurs, and to help them achieve remarkable outcomes when it matters most.”
