The Nord-Lock Group began in 1982, in the village of Mattmar, northern Sweden, when they introduced the innovative wedge-locking technology. This technology brought a whole new, unmatched engineering approach to secure bolted joints. Fast forward in time and Nord-Lock has developed into Nord-Lock Group, become wholly owned by Investment Latour AB, and acquired four technology brands: Superbolt in 2011, Boltight in 2015, Expander in 2016, and Energy Bolting in 2025 all to continue pursuing their ultimate objective of protecting the integrity of mechanical solutions.
Founded in 2008, Bolt & Nut is a leading manufacturer of specialty bolts and non-standard fasteners. Exporting globally from its facility in Wolverhampton, UK, it supplies highly demanding industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation, nuclear, and defence. Bolt and Nut has sales of more than £17m and profitability that exceeds Latour’s wholly owned industrial operations.
The acquisition builds on the successful acquisition of Energy Bolting in 2025, a deal Convex also advised on, to create a strengthened platform for global expansion and is the next step in Nord-Lock Group’s journey to become a leader in specialty bolting. By combining specialty bolting, Nord-Lock washers, Superbolt mechanical tensioners and Boltight hydraulic tensioners, Nord-Lock Group delivers a unique total solution offering in safety-critical bolting.
Daniel Westberg, CEO at Nord-Lock Group says: “Specialty bolting serves several industries key to Nord-Lock Group where we see long-term growth prospects underpinned by global megatrends. The addition of Bolt & Nut further strengthens Nord-Lock Group’s specialty bolting offer and gives us the scale required to support customers globally with an expanded specialty bolting offer. Best-in-class service, fast quotes, short lead times and fully traceable, defect-free products for critical industries with stringent requirements – all backed by the certification and accreditation to match. Together with the rest of our portfolio, Bolt & Nut strengthens Nord-Lock Group’s position as a leading total solution provider for safety and asset-critical bolted joint applications, and increases our ability to support our customers in reducing sourcing complexity and securing reliable supply.”
Mike Smith, Managing Director of Bolt and Nut Manufacturing Ltd adds: “Nord-Lock Group’s vision of being the reliable global supplier of safety and asset-critical bolted joint solutions is a clear match for Bolt & Nut’s ethos. Our combined expertise in specialty bolting and shared philosophy of delivering excellent customer service creates a strong platform for future growth”.
Closing of the acquisition is expected to occur during Q4 2026, subject to regulatory approval. Mike Smith will continue as Managing Director of Bolt & Nut under Nord-Lock Group’s ownership. Customers will continue to benefit from Bolt & Nut’s established manufacturing capabilities and service model, now backed by Nord-Lock Group’s global reach and broader offer portfolio.
